Native App, Customisable Interface

Working with Meta is remarkably simple, mostly because its layout is very intuitive. You can view Tags, Audio Properties, File Info, and Artwork Info.

Editor Configurations allow you to customise the layout of tags you want to edit in the sidebar.

Broad Media Support

Meta supports all popular audio formats such as mp3, mp4, m4a, aiff, wav, flac, ogg, oga, opus, spx, dsf, dsdiff, and writes metadata formats ID3v1, ID3v2 (v2.3, v2.4), MP4, Vorbis, INFO and APE Tags.

Powerful Batch Editing

Most of the changes you do will be aimed at multiple files — like setting missing album artwork. Meta's sidebar allows for applying changes to a selection of files, instantly.

Find album covers instantly and effortlessly

Find album artworks online, in one click, thanks to the “Cover Finder” feature.
Easily find quality album covers in your preferred size (Normal, Large, XL).

This is an optional feature, offered as a non-expiring in-app purchase.

Smart Artwork Editing

Album artworks are easily set or replaced by dragging images to the artwork view. You can adjust existing images on-demand (scale, crop, compress), and configure Meta to automatically adjust new images upon adding, in order to keep your audio files size to a minimum.

Pattern-Based Operations

Rename Files

If you're aiming for consistent naming of your music files, Meta's ability to compose file names using Tags will prove of great help.

Specify a naming pattern and automatically rename each file according to its metadata.

Create Directories

In a similar manner, organise files in sub-directories by specifying a file path pattern.

Slashes in the pattern will be interpreted as a folder delimiter, thus each file will be moved to the directory path generated by its own metadata.

Convert to Tags

In a reversed manner, Meta can extract Tag information from file names, file paths, or other metadata, by matching it against a pattern.

Regular expressions or escape tokens will allow you to ignore unwanted information from the Tags.

Compose Tag

Finally, compose a Tag's value by mixing plain text and metadata tokens.

This feature will prove particularly useful when wanting to append or prepend text to the current tag's value.

Generate Track Number Sequences

When it comes to editing albums or compilations, you don't want to be manually assigning each track number. Thanks to the Track Numbering assistant, just arrange tracks in the desired order, and let Meta do the rest.

Find & Replace

Find and replace text, words, or regular expressions in the Tags, using the native text finder interface.
Perform text replacements iteratively or in a single go using the Replace All command.

Utility Popovers

Meta's sidebar features utility popovers that help you edit specific tags like: Multiline Text (lyrics, comments), BPM (tap tempo), or Dates, so you don’t have to worry about writing ISO8601 Date Formats!

Customisable Tag Engine

Metadata preferences allow you to choose which type of metadata formats will be written to your files. Different versions of the ID3v2 format are available.

For example, if you're running a version of macOS before 10.12, the Finder will only be able to read ID3v2.3 Tags. Or if you input text in Cyrillic, you will need to use ID3v2.4 encoded either with UTF-8 or UTF-16.

Music.app Friendly

Once you're done editing in Meta, you can add the files to your library or refresh the changes in one click. Meta can also auto-complete when typing using data from your music library.
